What got you here?
You may feel anxious, depressed, disconnected and stuck - you don’t feel good and you’re wanting things to change but don’t know where to start.
You know you are spending too much time on screens and digital devices and you feel like you’re losing track of time as life slips away.
It might seem as though you’re not living a full life. You’re always tired and your cup is empty. You want your energy and inspiration back.
You might have tried traditional counselling and it isn’t helping as much anymore, you’re restless and something isn’t clicking.
You find it hard to say what’s on your mind and heart sitting opposite a stranger on a couch inside - it feels unnatural.
You’re craving a challenge and want to try something different. You want to explore and discover new places.
You want to be the driver of your own life and feel guided by someone who isn’t telling you what to do, but supports you to reach and find your own answers.
We do counselling and support work, but the difference is - it’s outside in nature.
What if we aren’t meant to be inside all day?
What if we need to spend as much time as possible in nature, strengthening this connection as a necessity to feeling alive and improving our mental and physical health?
What if the systems and structures we are living in are crushing our spirits?
I have felt deep inside me for a long time that the way that most of us are living is not serving us.
I have been lucky enough to spend my 20’s travelling, living in different cities and countries, trying out various jobs and lifestyles, and meeting and befriending so many people.
My most rewarding work has been in mental health and disability, supporting people through their challenges, sitting with them in difficult times, and trying to make their lives feel brighter and create positive changes, often by appreciating the little things.
That’s where bush banter comes in.
As a social worker, I hold a deep awareness of the challenges, hidden and obvious, many people are facing. I currently work as a counsellor for young people, and my heart breaks for the disconnection and hopelessness so many of us feel.
That’s how bush banter was born - not from my formal education experience, but from watching too many young people become disenchanted with their lives and the state of the world.
It is well known that coming back to nature and community is a big part of the way forward.
Bush banter is a way for me to combine my training in social work, outdoor and adventure therapy, and somatic therapies in a way that feels deeply responsive to the needs of the young people I support.
Maybe you haven’t had the role models you’ve needed to thrive, or felt a sense of safety within you that’s necessary to take risks. I have failed many times and I’m grateful, because it means I’ve been willing to try.
I want to help you feel grounded and resourced enough to back yourself. I believe your weirdness is your magic and your strength. I believe time disconnecting from technology and reconnecting to nature is a necessity.
Most of all I believe you already know what you need to do, you just need some gentle support to get you there.
How I can help.
